5．动名词短语(Gerundial Phrase)，如：The candidate will be responsible for：

        Developing sales in southern China．

        Providing technical support to customers．

        Reporting to national general manager in Beijing．

        6．同位语或插入语(Appositive Phrase or Parenthetical Phrase)，这两种短语一般出现在简单介绍招聘单位情况的句子中，而且总是在前后用逗号或破折号与句子分开。运用这两种短语亦可用较少的字数来传达较多的信息。例如：

        A．Beijing Metito Laurel-a Sino-U．S．joint venture-a world leader in industrial＆．Wastewater Treatment System，is seeking……这个简单句用了两个短语来补充信息：用破折号分开的插入语“a Sino—U．S．joint venture”说明了该公司的性质；同位语“a world leader in……System”陈述了该企业从事何种业务。

        B．Bayer China，subsidiary of a leading European Chemical Concern，is now offering……这个句子如果不用同位语，就得分成两个句子：Bayer China is a subsidiary of a leading European Chemical Concern．It is now offering……这无疑会增加广告的字数、篇幅和费用。

        C．Kellogg (China)Limited，a Sino-American Joint Venture，an affiliate of the world’s largest breakfast food manufacturer，is expanding its operations and is looking for……这一句连用了两个同位语来分别说明该公司的性质与生产范围。

        四、常用祈使句

        祈使句被经常用来说明应聘方法：一来表示礼貌(请你……)；二来可使读者感到亲切，因为省略的主语是“你或你们”，读者会觉得此则广告是在面对面地和自己谈话；三来可节省篇幅。祈使句一般以“Please”或其缩略形式“Pls”开头，后面紧跟一个动词。下面这些例句包含了有关应聘的常见动词：

        A．Please apply in own handwriting with full English resume and recent photo to……

        B．Pls forward your resume and recent photo to……

        C．Please submit(send)your written application and personal resume in English，contact address and telephone numbers to the following address no later than Feb．2，2003……

        D．Pls E-mail your CV with full work history and academic background to the following E-mail address.

        E．Reply to：……Please include details of present remuneration and expected pay package．

        五、惯用缩略词

        为了节省广告撰稿人的撰稿时间、读者的阅读时问、广告的篇幅和支付广告的费用，英语招聘广告中能够缩略的词都尽可能缩略，归纳如下：

        1．首字母缩略词(Acronyms)：保留每个单词的第一个字母(极少数保留头两个字母)，而把后面的字母省略，这种词多用于表示地名和机构的专有名词、一些习惯搭配在一起的名词和表示学位的名词。

        1)表示地名的缩略词：GZ=Guangzhou，HK=Hong Kong，PRC=the People’s Republic of China，USA=the United States of America，等等。

        2)表示公司或机构的缩略词：AT&T=American Telephone and Telegram Corporation，ETD
